WEEKEND SPEAKERS
Dwight Nelson
speaker
For 40 years Dwight Nelson served as lead pastor of the Pioneer Memorial Church on the campus of Andrews University, concluding his ministry there in June 2023. He continues to preach and write from Berrien Springs, Michigan. His most recent books are The Chosen and American Apocalypse. He currently writes The Endgame column for the Adventist Review.

Born in Tokyo, Japan to missionary parents, Dwight Nelson lived in Japan for fourteen years. Tutored in Japanese by Fumiko Takechi, who later married Kinichi Nozaki* (the founder of Mountain View Japanese Church), Dwight was a contributing writer to a Japanese book. His father, Paul Nelson, named Marc and Mari Lou's father, "Timothy" since biblically, Paul and Timothy labored together in the gospel. As a child, Dwight played with Masumi Shimada and Marc Iwahashi.

He and his wife Karen are blessed with two married children and three granddaughters.

*Kinichi and Fumiko Takechi Nozaki are the parents of Esther Nozaki Hashimoto
Mark Ishikawa
Speaker
Mark Ishikawa has a lifelong connection to the Mountain View Japanese Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he grew up and was shaped by a faithful, intergenerational community that modeled servant leadership, mentorship, and a deep sense of calling.

Mark currently serves as a vice president at FaithSearch Partners, the nation’s largest faith-based executive search firm, supporting organizations in identifying mission-aligned leaders. He also serves as an executive with Blue Zones, advancing community well-being initiatives nationwide.

Over the past two decades, Mark has served in leadership roles with Adventist Health, Loma Linda University, and Pacific Union College.

Mark began his professional journey as a youth pastor at the Loma Linda Japanese Seventh-day Adventist Church. Returning to participate in the Mountain View Japanese Church’s 100th anniversary celebration is a deeply meaningful opportunity to honor the community that helped shape his faith, values, and ikigai (life mission).
